| GUN BAN PACKAGE
PASSES SENATE COMMITTEE |
June 23, 2022. Today, the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee passed most of Gov Murphy's gun ban package, along party lines. Some of the bills were amended on the fly in the committee, and the amended versions have not yet been released publicly on the NJ legislature's website.
If these bills move forward, the next steps in the legislative process would include harmonizing any differences between the Senate and Assembly versions of these bills, and then voting by the full Senate and the full Assembly. Both of these procedures could happen as soon as next week. Please watch for further updates and alerts as this process unfolds, and prepare to resume contacting lawmakers next week.
