CARRY- KILLER BILL HELD IN ASSEMBLY, PASSES SENATE COMMITTEE WITH AMENDMENTS |
October 27, 2022. Legislation designed to kill right to carry in New Jersey failed to move in the full Assembly today, but passed a Senate committee with amendments in a party-line vote after several hours of testimony. A4769/S3214 is expected to move to another Senate committee in the near future, and will likely be taken up in the full Assembly at a future date.
Today's committee amendments are not yet publicly available, but our sources report that they include a change that would address the ban on "weapons" generally (not just "firearms") that ANJRPC brought to light in yesterday's alert.
Today's testimony is well worth listening to (click here to listen). ANJRPC Executive Director Scott Bach testified for over a half hour and was grilled by the committee. Theresa Inacker of CNJFO and the DC Project testified poignantly, as did several other gun owners in attendance.
Please watch for follow up alerts as we learn more, and please stand ready to keep taking action with lawmakers. |
