Rally Updates: Messaging & State House Logistics
Share |

NOTE: The updates below are excerpts from ANJRPC's full list of rally logistics.  See the full list on ANJRPC's website home page at

Weather: Trenton weather for Monday is currently forecast to be sunny with a high of 45 degrees, with 11 mph winds.  Bring layers and gloves, as it is likely to be chilly in the morning and gradually warming.

Signage: The only restriction on any signage you might wish to bring is that it cannot be mounted to sticks or posts (that includes flags).  That is a NJ State Police requirement, not ours, and they have indicated they will be enforcing their rules stringently.

Visual Messaging: You are free to bring your own signs to the rally.  Keep in mind that the media will be watching us closely, and will most likely use visuals from the rally to portray gun owners in the national media.  If you’re making your own signs, you might consider using one or more of the following slogans on your signs:

We Are Not the Problem!

Don’t Make Me a Felon!

Target Criminals, Not Gun Rights!

Criminals Ignore Gun Laws!

Protect Children – Harden Our Schools!

Stop Blocking Self-Defense!

Punish Criminals, Not Gun Owners!

Follow the Constitution!

Defend Freedom!

State House Logistics: Those choosing to go the State House on their own after the rally need to be aware of the following important updates:

1. Only the Assembly is voting on gun legislation -- the Senate is not.  You are still free to visit the both galleries anyway, space permitting.

2. Voting will probably not start on time, and could go all afternoon and into the evening.  Rather than trying to stay there for the entire time, you may choose to stop into the galleries briefly to make sure gun owner presence is seen.  Note: Buses depart at 3:30, so you may not be able to stay for the entire time anyway.

3.  Signs cannot be brought into the State House.

4.  ***VERY IMPORTANT*** Due to construction at the State House, and an unrelated rally at the State House Annex, there will only be one place you can enter the State House: the unmarked rear entrance, which is very close to the War Memorial where the rally is taking place.  The photo below shows the entrance from the vantage point of the War Memorial.
