A national medical society has endorsed the deregulation of firearm suppressors

 

Academic medical organizations have traditionally resisted the decades-long loosening of American gun-control laws. Since at least the 1980s, they have been uniformly hostile to the very idea of gun ownership.

By doing so, they have strayed from their mission of treating people.In view of this history, it is encouraging and perhaps even surprising that the national specialty society of ear, nose and throat surgeons—the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS)—has adopted an official position statement endorsing firearm suppressors (silencers) for hearing preservation.

Yesterday, the NRA prevailed in a lawsuit brought by the New York State Attorney General in an attempt to end or take over the leading gun rights organization in the United States. The outcome represents an historic victory for gun owners, and a devastating loss for government bureaucrats who abused their power by trying to destroy an organization they disagree with.  

This outcome postures NRA for an historic resurgence as the leading gun rights advocate in America and the world. The organization has emerged leaner and more focused after several grueling years of high-stakes litigation. No longer engaged in a life-or-death battle for survival, the organization's full attention can return to its core mission.

]]> Tue, 30 Jul 2024 17:15:00 GMT NRA WINS HISTORIC SUPREME COURT RULING AGAINST FORMER NEW YORK REGULATOR https://www.anjrpc.org/news/news.asp?id=683466 https://www.anjrpc.org/news/news.asp?id=683466 May 30, 2024. History was made earlier today when the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled that NRA can proceed with its lawsuit against a former New York regulator for abuse of power by pressuring banks and insurance companies to refuse to do business with NRA. In a stunning 9-0 decision in NRA's favor, the High Court ruled that NRA's First Amendment claims can proceed for alleged violations of its free speech rights. The decision was authored by liberal justice Sotomayor.
