Please Immediately Tell Assembly Members to Vote No!

On Thursday, March 16, bypassing the committee hearing process entirely, and without even posting the text of the measure for public review, Assembly resolution ACR-234 has been scheduled for a full Assembly floor vote. The resolution paves the way for a taxpayer-funded lawsuit by the legislature to kill the Christie Administration’s new regulation (adopted last week) allowing those facing serious threats to qualify for a handgun carry permit.  The State Senate passed companion resolution SCR-149 on Monday, March 13 on a largely partisan vote of 21-16.

Please immediately tell every Assembly Member to Vote NO on ACR-234.  Tell them that it is extreme and outrageous to intentionally block those facing serious threats from defending themselves, especially since the U.S. Supreme Court has held that the police have no legal duty to protect individual citizens.  A “yes” vote will create victims and prevent the most vulnerable members of society from defending themselves.
