New Jersey State
Indoor
Pistol Championship
For the second consecutive year Old Bridge
Rifle and Pistol Club had the honor of hosting New Jersey’s Indoor State
Pistol Championship, held March 25th to April 3rd. With eight relays over
two weekends 79 competitors from four states, including 11 High Masters,
were able to participate in a great event! There were 8 scores over 2600
(out of a possible 2700), including two superlative performances over
2650, and there were four perfect 10X targets fired over the course
of this match!
The overall winner, again
claiming the title of NJ Indoor State Champion, was Dave Lange of Glen
Rock, NJ, who shot 2663-153X which was his “personal best” indoor score!
Second place went to Ron Steinbrecher of Wynwood, PA, for shooting
2652-126X, his best score in several years. High Master Kathy Chatterton
of Glen Rock, NJ was again Woman Champion with 2574-82X
High Master John Gemmill
of Cliffwood Beach, NJ earned High NJ Senior honors with 2604-128X. He was
among the elite set of shooters who scored a flawless 100-10X in .22 timed
fire, as was fellow High Master Kevin Ball of Englishtown, NJ!
Top Master was Hal
Lindbergh of Wilmington, DE with 2616-112X, while Paul Adamowski of
Marmora, NJ finished with 2546 – 71X to claim the title of High NJ
Resident Master. Norm Glitz of Hamilton Square, NJ shot his “personal
best” and first Master aggregate score of 2568-86X, to win honors as best
among 26 shooters in Expert class.
Logan Ball of
Englishtown, NJ not only repeated as NJ Junior Indoor Champion with
2422-45X, he won Sharpshooter class outright! His first .22 timed
fire target was 100-5X, and with his typical strong match finish he shot
275-7X in .45 gallery course and 192-3X in .45 rapid fire. These latter
two scores not only earned him two of his six place awards among the
mostly adult field of 13 Sharpshooters, but also set National Junior
records for the 25 yard distance! Fellow Junior John Gunn III of
Runnemede, NJ, had his own “personal best” finish of 2407-42X.
High Marksman was Louis
G. Mancuso of Brooklyn, NY, with 2322-41X, while Abe Chait, of Highland
Park, NJ, was High NJ Resident Marksman. Abe achieved his lifetime
“personal best” grand aggregate with 2297-23X, which was also his first
Sharpshooter score for a full 2700!
