Camp Perry Pistol Report: Juniors 2003

JUNIOR SERVICE PISTOL TEAM WINS AT CAMP PERRY! This team, consisting of John Gunn III of Runnemede, Kenneth Lund of Green Brook, Heather Dempsey of Oak Ridge, and Captain Logan Ball of Englishtown, was High Junior Service Pistol Team in the National Trophy Team Match! The photo shows them, along with Coach John Gemmill, receiving their certificates at the Civilian Marksmanship Program awards ceremony. (Their plaques will be distributed after they have been made up). The team score was 807 (out of 1200), far above last year’s winning team score of 496. Needless to say, this is a tremendous accomplishment. We’re proud of you, Juniors!

John Gunn III was also the High Junior Service Pistol Shooter in the National Trophy Individual (“Leg”) Match, with a score of 243. Congratulations, John!

At the CMP awards ceremony, Norman Glitz of Hamilton Square and Allan Kutyla of Montvale, were called to the stage for presentation of their Distinguished Pistol Shot badges, which they recently earned.

Logan Ball’s father, Kevin Ball, earned a General Custer medal in the Leg Match, with a score of 267.

Many New Jersey shooters excelled in the NRA matches, too. Dave Lange of Glen Rock was 7th Civilian High Master with a score of 2619. His wife, Kathy Chatterton, was High Woman in the .45 caliber aggregate with a score of 862. Logan Ball was high Junior Sharpshooter with a score of 2384. Kevin Van de Velde of Hamilton was 9th Civilian Marksman with a score of 2343 and made the NRA/USA Civilian Pistol Team.

Congratulations to our pistol shooters!
