Pistol Competitions 2004 

Indoor State Pistol Championships
Sixty seven shooters from four states competed in this championship, which was conducted at the Old Bridge Rifle and Pistol Club, in Old Bridge, in March and April. 

The match winner, 2004 State Indoor Pistol Champion, and high resident High Master is Dave Lange, of Glen Rock, who fired 2637 (out of 2700). 

High New Jersey residents in the other classes were:

  • Kevin Ball of Englishtown (Master class, 2596)

  • Craig Ward of Morris Plains (Expert, 2520)

  • Art Zeiss of Hackettstown (Sharpshooter, 2416)

  • John Clark of Hopatcong (2558, Marksman)

 

National Indoor Pistol Championship
This championship is conducted in local "Sectionals" and the results are sent in to the NRA to determine the winners. Several New Jersey shooters came out on top. 

  • Kathy Chatterton, of Glen Rock (873 out of 900) is National Women's Champion

  • Kenny Lund, of Green Brook, (809) is National Junior Champion

Other New Jersey shooters did extremely well within their classifications. There were 408 Experts in the Expert Class

  • Norm Glitz (865), of Hamilton Square came in 8th

  • Kevin Van deVelde (858), of Hamilton, was 20th

There were 297 Marksmen

  • John Clark (829), of Hopatcong, was 4th

  • Douglas Hauser (814), of Hawthorne, was 14th
