End of the Evil Empire Shoot 2003

NJ Arms Collectors Club Competition with Former Communist Bloc Firearms.

Next Shoot: January 17, Historical Winter Firearms

The New Jersey Arms Collectors Club (NJACC) moved its traditional End of the Evil Empire Shoot to Cherry Ridge this year. NJACC is organized for collectors and shooters, and sponsors a number of competitions with period firearms. Since the firearms in each match are similar, the competition does not go to the more expensive equipment. It also gives collectors and bargain gun hunters an opportunity to fire vintage firearms.

Many people collect firearms from the former communist bloc and buy modern variations of current issue infantry rifles and sniper rifles. The End of the Evil Empire Shoot is a popular event. Competitors are encouraged to bring memorabilia or dress in appropriate military clothing. At this year’s event, Range Officer Mike Cutrera wore an authentic Soviet Generals uniform. Prizes consist of original Soviet medals and enlisted men’s belts and buckles.

Because of this year’s success, NJACC plans to hold another shoot at Cherry Ridge next fall. If you own any of the firearms used, consider coming out next year. An added bonus is that the entrance fee includes a lunch of Polish sausage and pierogis (potato dumplings)! Persons interested in learning more about the New Jersey Arms Collectors Club are invited to visit their web site at www.njacc.info
