The Association’s sixth YouthFest at the range drew more than 190 kids and their parents on May 29th, the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. The young shooters were given the opportunity to try rifles and shotguns under the one-one-one supervision of NRA-certified instructors.

Organizers Frank and Sharon Sevean welcomed everyone on a sunny but chilly day, starting the activities with a briefing on range safety. Afterwards, the groups headed out to the range to enjoy some actual live firing.

Besides safe shooting, our guests enjoyed the traditional YouthFest lunch of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. After lunch, there was one more round of shooting, then a return to the clubhouse where three junior range memberships and other goodies were given away.

YouthFest is one of ANJRPC's major events and is an important part of the Association's mission to promote the shooting sports to young people. YouthFest is made possible in part by a grant from the NRA Foundation. It also supported by the hard work of dozens of seasoned volunteers instructors and helpers. This year, the volunteers handled more than 400 at Cherry Ridge with ease, making sure everyone enjoyed safe shooting and had a good time.
