Notes on Cal Ellis
May 2, 2002
As with many I found Cal a beacon of light in the darkness and a leader in all respects. If a collection is forthcoming or a history book is to be written for our future leaders, count me in for a donation.

Dear Fellow Shooters,
It is with deep sadness that I learn of the death of your President Cal Ellis. I had the opportunity and pleasure to sit next to Cal and his wife at the Friends of the NRA Banquet in Reno, NV. I was impressed, having been a former resident of NJ, with the scope and the magnitude of the tremendous job they were doing with the membership of this large club. I asked Mr. Wayne LaPierre to personally thank Mr. & Mrs. Ellis for the job they were doing. Keeping the spark of freedom lit in a repressive gun rights State like New Jersey could not have been an easy task. I can only offer my heart felt thanks that Mr. Ellis did a great service for our Fraternity and that his hard work and sacrifice did make a difference. Thank you Mr. Ellis, you will be missed.
Warmest Regards,
Tom VonHollen, Chairman

I met Mr. Ellis at various events both in and out of the club. He was the salt of the earth, solid, and fiercely passionate about our freedom. I read his obit in the paper and said a prayer to the passing of a great man.
