Continue Laughs,
While We Keep on Defending Rights
The following letter was published in
the May 5 edition of The Jersey Journal.
This letter is in regard to the Opinion Page cartoon featured in the April
27 edition of your newspaper spoofing the National Rifle Association's new
web site NRANews.com.
I, as an NRA member, (i.e. Second Amendment/Bill of Rights defender) would
like to thank the Jersey Journal for helping to inform the uninformed and
under-informed, that this new avenue to the politics of so-called
"gun control" now exists. This is, in spite of and in order to
counter, the United States Supreme Court's shameful upholding of the Sen.
John McCain-sponsored gag order on free speech deceptively named the
"Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act," which bans organizations such
as the NRA from, or labor unions, or the Sierra Club, or the Boy Scouts
from using the TV or radio airwaves to tell the voters where their
candidates stand on related issues 30 days before a primary election and
60 days before a general election. To do so would now constitute a
prohibited criminal act! Punishable under penalty of the law! Here in our
United States of America!
The NRA was first among many to bring suit against this travesty. Once
again proving its worth as this nation's oldest "civil rights"
organization. Never have I been so proud to be a member.
So, once again, keep the cartoons and the smart aleck criticisms coming,
please - for as my dear Aunt Tessi used to say, "every knock is a
boost."
