Un-American Group Attacks Gun Rights

The following letter was published in the New Jersey Herald

Editor:

“Tell Congress we've got to protect our kids from the NRA!” This outrageous attack on law-abiding supporters of the Second Amendment is now appearing in bold letters 1/4 inch high across the outside of envelopes mailed through the U.S. Postal Service.

The return address lists "Mary Leigh Blek," formerly of the Bell Campaign, now of the Clinton era's "Million Mom March" organization. The return address further reads "United With Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence," formerly of Handgun Control, Inc.

You may be horrified to learn that portions of your contributions to the victims of 9-11-2001 have been diverted to this un-American group, bent on attacking freedom-loving patriots fighting to preserve our Constitution. Since 1871 the NRA has been instructing our people in the armed forces and in law enforcement.

No organization in the world has done more to teach and promote gun safety than the National Rifle Association. They are currently fighting a legal battle to preserve our First Amendment, the Freedom of Speech, which the U.S. Congress has abolished 60 days prior to every General Election and 30 days prior to each Primary Election through Campaign Finance Reform.

Now Sarah Brady, wife of former President Ronald Reagan's press secretary, Jim Brady, along with Mary Blek is shamelessly using the sniper attacks that occurred last year in the Washington, DC area to smear the good name of every member of the NRA, and to promote the Brady-Blek agenda for eventual gun registration and confiscation.

The "mad" Brady-Blek bunch claim they want "Sensible gun laws, safe kids," but where is the anger of these women for the 1.6 million babies murdered in this country every year prior to birth. If these women want to make "this country...safe for our kids," they should abolish the automobile. A car is far more likely to kill their child than a firearm. They conveniently forget that both are operated by people.

In the last five years 0, that's zero, children have been accidentally shot by a firearm in New Jersey, but our legislators, influenced by threats of retaliation come the next election, shamelessly voted to pass a Smart Gun bill, costing taxpayers millions of dollars for nonexistent and dangerous technology. It is an unequivocal fact that firearms are used more than 2 million times per year to protect people in this country from criminals intent an causing them harm. Million Mom Marchers soon found this out when they put yard signs in front of their houses, declaring theirs was a gun-free home. This was an open invitation to burglars, telling them they would be safe from a defenseless homeowner. As an increasing number of burglaries occurred at these homes, the signs soon came down.

The MMM is intent on getting a million signatures to our Senators, encouraging more oppressive laws to be enacted. Please mail or FAX your Senators Lautenberg and Corzine, and your U.S. Representative to tell them to preserve the Constitution and allow the law-abiding citizen the right to self-defense. Their FAX numbers and new addresses are as follows.

The Honorable Frank R. Lautenberg
825 A Hart Senate Office Building Washington, DC 20510-.3003
FAX: 1-202-228-4054
E-mail: Lautenberg.senate.gov/

The Honorable Jon Corzine
502 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510-3004
FAX: 1-202-228-2197
E-mail; Corzine,senate.gov/

We already have enough gun laws; what we need is enforcement.
