ANJRPC Activities and Outreach

As part of its mission to encourage the interest firearms activities, each year the Association participates in firearms-related conferences, hosts events, and works with its member clubs to host events, designed to introduce the public to the safe and responsible enjoyment of the shooting sports.

ANJRPC Named NRA’s Outstanding State Association of the Year
The Association was selected from 10,000 NRA-affiliated gun clubs and state associations. According to a NRA September 13, 2003 press statement, this prestigious award recognized ANRJPC's "excellence in accomplishing the objectives of NRA at the state level,”

Minorities’ Day at the Range June 21, 2003
The fourth annual event hosted by ANJRPC and the Tenth Cavalry Gun Club Inc. drew many new shooters and featured a luncheon address by nationally syndicated columnist Armstrong Williams.

YouthFest 2003 May 24, 2003
The Association’s fifth annual day for youngsters and their parents enjoyed a great turnout in spite of cold rainy weather and a threatened demonstration from anti-free-speech Montclair residents stemming from the settlement of the lawsuit brought by ANJRPC.

Marine Junior ROTC Cadets Train at the Range May 17, 2003
Forty-five cadets from Abraham Clark High School in Roselle trained in the safe and proper handling of the AR-15. Their cadet drill team had just won the 2003 National ROTC Drill Team Championship.

Scouts Come Prepared for a Great Day April 5, 2003
More than 175 Boy Scouts and 85 leaders and parents form 15 troops across New Jersey enjoyed a day of firearms saftey training and fun at the Cherry Ridge Range.

Tenafly Club Hosts Firearms Safety Training Session March 15, 2003
The Tenafly Rifle & Pistol Club, an ANJRPC member club, hosted a live firearms safety training class, led by Carl Albanese, president and found or the Safety Association for Firearms Education and Training.

NRA Directors Visit Women's Day at the Range 2002
The unparalleled success of ANJRPC’s range outreach events - Women’s Day, Youth Day, and Minorities’ Day - has attracted national attention and these events could become the model for a coordinated nationwide event presently being studied by NRA.

YouthFest 2002
Three hundred kids, along with parents and youth group leaders enjoyed a day of rootin’ tootin’ FUN at the Cherry Ridge Range.

Women’s Day 2002
Hundreds of women jammed Cherry Ridge Range to join us for our “Fourth Annual Women’s Day at the Range” and afterward described it as “awesome, exciting, fun,” and “Better than they expected.” They also described it as “safe, comfortable and non-intimidating.”

Minorities’ Day 2002
The third annual Minorities’ Day at the Range and Juneteenth Celebration hosted by ANJRPC and its affiliate club, the Tenth Cavalry Gun Club, Inc. gave a warm welcome, introducing many potential new shooters to the sport.

Annual Meeting 2002
The Association’s annual meeting was held October 20, 2002 at The Willows in Dunellen, New Jersey. With the start of 2002-2003 fiscal year, Robert E. Esch will serve as ANJRPC President, succeeding Cal Ellis, who passed away in April 2002 at the NRA convention.


Scholarship Awards 2002
At its annual meeting two Junior Scholarship Awards of $1,500 each were presented to Kara Strawn, daughter of Margaret and Dean Strawn of Long Valley and John G. Bilby, Son of Pat and Joseph Bilby of Wall Township. 

SAFE Conference 2002
ANJRPC Board members attended the Sportsmen’s Association for Firearms Education (SAFE) Right to Carry Conference on Long Island, along with over 1,000 firearms owners and sportsmen and women.
