New Jersey Bear Hunt Results
New Jersey’s six-day bear hunting season ended with a reported total of 328 bear taken by hunters. According to the New Jersey Department of Fish, Game and Wildlife, this represents approximately 10% of the bear population in New Jersey. Sixteen of the bears killed had been previously identified as nuisance bears.

The hunt, which  took place in northern and western New Jersey, was approved to help reduce the black bear population. It went forward in spite of attempts by anti-hunting groups to halt it.

The Association supports the bear hunt and hunter's rights in New Jersey.
