Assemblyman Louis Manzo's recent proposal for another gun-control law begs the question: If gun control works so well, why is it that every time there is yet another shooting he and his political like call for yet more gun control? New Jersey, the nation's gun control laboratory, is already saturated in gun control. Guess what? It doesn't work, except to the advantage of the criminal.
He has called for fast-tracking his bill, legislation that would cause the forfeiture of any motor vehicle, premise or building if an unlawfully possessed firearm is found within it. The term "unlawfully possessed” is the devil-in-the details. This legislation is so unfair, broad and legally ambiguous that it should defy any and all consideration.
Mr. Manzo, a longtime opponent of the people's rights under the United States Constitution's Second Amendment, would have us believe that Jersey City's murdering, thieving, dope-shooting, low-life, pack animals own their own cars, properties and homes. It assumes that they are out on the street committing crimes and are using their ill-gotten money to pay for vehicle loans, mortgages, insurance and their kid's tuition. I don't think so. I think this law is aimed squarely at "legal” firearms ownership.
